Some people say it’s hard to be a teenager, and I would have to be agreed with that. Being a teenager is could be hard, including in dealing with auto insurance. If you are a teenager and you would like to buy an insurance for your car, almost every insurance company will charge a high rate for your car insurance. That’s because insurance companies have a factual statistic that young people under 25 are high risk for making claims. The statistic says that teenagers are the most likely age group to get into an accident due to inexperience driving, making poor decisions, and reckless driving. Lots of accidents involved young people just because they’re driving while talking to the phone or busy pushing the buttons of an Apple iPod. But It doesn’t mean that all teenagers are bad drivers, but based on the statistics teenagers are risky insurance holders who have strong tendency to file claims, and based on that consideration there’s almost no insurance company that would give teenagers a low insurance rate. But don’t worry, here we’re going to discuss how to get you guys better rates on your car insurance premiums.
* Pick a Save Car. If you don’t want to pay high rate for your car insurance, don’t make things worst by choosing to drive a sport car or SUV, because cars like these has low safety ratings. Choosing a 4 doors sedan with high safety ratings such as Honda Accord or something like that would give you a lower insurance rate. You probably don’t get the chicks, but at least you can save money.
* Don’t Take Collision Coverage. Most teenagers drive clunkers. If you drive a clunker, then you don’t need to pay for collision. Any car with a book value of less than $3,000 warrants skipping out on collision and the amount you’d spend on the premium could be saved every month and pay for another clunker. This way you would save lots of money.
* Ask For a Higher Deductible. If you’re really confident about you’re driving skill, ask the insurance company to give you a higher deductible, this will automatically decrease the insurance premium rate. But make sure you have enough cash in your emergency fund to cover your deductible if you do get in an accident considering you’ve raised the deductible amount.
* Get Another Policy With The Same Insurer. If you have more than one policy in the same insurance carrier, you’ll get multiple policies discounts. So if you need another policy make sure that you buy it from the same company as your auto insurance. I would suggest that you get renter’s insurance or health insurance to coupling your auto insurance.
* Try To Get Good Grades. Do you know that most insurance companies will give 10% to 15% discount on your premiums for having good grades ?. Usually they would recommend a 3.0 GPA or higher as the standard for giving the discount.
So now there’s no more excuses for not having a car insurance just because you’re a teenager. Insurance is very important since anything can happen anywhere and anytime we’ll never know. So, it is important for having precautions especially for young people who still have a long way to go to reach their dreams in the future.
